New PDF Search Engine Introduced


The task of finding specific PDF files on the Internet has become increasingly easier, thanks to a new search engine created specifically for PDF content.

The tool is PDF Search Engine and it's a great addition to your present DAO resources.



The simplicity of using PDF Search Engine is what makes it solid tool. The web-based interface is somewhat Googlesque, as it mimics the minimalistic style and single text field area.  Users simply type in the term they want to search for and with the press of a button, search results instantaneously appear, ready to be downloaded.  Firefox users will all be pleased with the free downloadable extension that is also available.


I personally use a few different means to search for PDF assets, and the addition of this new tool is certainly welcome.  Using advance google search seems to be the primary method most people use.  I think this is just the beginning of format-specific search engines, which will ultimately have a huge effect on DAO strategies.

What Are Digital Assets?

Before we begin understanding how to inventory our digital assets for optimization, we first need to make sure you understand exactly what a digital asset is.

A digital asset is any form of content and/or media that have been formatted into a binary source which include the right to use it.

That being said, let's break that down a little further.

Digital assets are any multimedia content rightfully owned by an individual or company, that can be used as brandable resource of information.

This can include:
digital photographs, videos, PDFs, music, eBooks, podcasts, 3D/CAD designs, animations, and many other media digital formats.

The 3 categories of digital assets are: textual content, images and multimedia.

Each one of the categories can be optimized to produce higher search results to your users requesting that certain type of information.

For example, let's say you want to produce a podcast teaching people how to properly train their dog.  Believe it or not, there is already a lot of competition for podcasts in this genre and it would be easy to never be found by people seeking the exact information  you are providing. This is where Digital Asset Optimization for multimedia plays a factor in distinguishing YOUR podcast from all the others.
